Medical Calls
Medical calls in Letterkenny is no joke!! You are the only doctor on call covering 5 wards! And that includes taking bloods during weekends when there is no phleb cover!! Which means you just go mental trying to find time to take bloods and do iv lines and review sick patients at the same time. Even without any break and not a single drop of water from 9am to 10pm, you still wont be able to finish your job. Left the hospital at 3am on friday, and 2am last night. Thank God, a colleague volunteered to do my call today, in which I will take hers tomorrow.
Since the changover, met my fellow surgical intern who was once in medical, he was adjusting himself into surgery same as me trying to adjust to medical, and was looking tensed and lost, and I asked him ‘Are you alright? What are you looking for?’, and he answered ’ GOD’, while shaking his head with hands wide open. HAHA. Me too!
All praise to God the Almighty. He is the only saviour.
Suturing Machine.
This is just too cool. This is the OverStitch Endoscopic Suturing System, capable of running and interrupted sutures through a small incision. This will allow for surgeons to suture regions where normally they would need to create a large incision to get in.
